Wakefield, right next door to Accotink Lake, has some great singletrack. The park does permit night riding on Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday nights. Join MORE on any of their regularly schedule rides.
Wakefield has three distinct trails: The Creek Trail, which runs along Accotink Creek is great for beginner riders. The Racetrack or Power Line trials which weave in and out of the woods along the power lines, and the Bowl, which offers some punchy climbs and technical features are more suited for intermediate riders. In addition, the Cross County Trail makes its way through Wakefield Park. For an extended ride you could do a loop at Wakefield and take the CCT to Laurel Hill.
Wakefield's proximity to the Capital Beltway make it an incredibly popular destination with riders from Northern Virginia looking to escape the nearby gridlock.
Wakefield Park is also home to the famous Wednesdays at Wakefield (W@W) races put on every summer by The Bike Lane

Best place to get some miles done on tuesday nights at 6:30pm with the DMV Mountain Biking group. we do have 3 different group levels. Fast, intermediate and casual group that you can choose to ride with. the casual+ group is more like a COED group, come join us and let's have fun!.

Wakefield is a hub of mountain biking activity with sMORE's rides on Monday at 5:30 in the first parking lot, Women's ride on Tuesday at 6:30, group rides for all levels Tuesday and Thursdays at 6:30 and of course the trails are open 7 days a week during daylight hours. Ernie

I live right across the street from Wakefield and it’s awesome to have a place so close to the beltway to go for a night ride with friends or take the kids for a trail ride.
