Activities Director
Maris Finley
Howdy! You may know me as Maris, Ma, Tuesday, the dancing Unicorn Parking Flagger or Delicious the Hot Dog. My journey with the MORE community began with the Thursday Night Rides at Schaeffer after moving to the area from Arizona back in 2017. I immediately knew this group was what I was looking for and dove in.
Since then, I have participated in group rides, trail work days, attended and/or volunteered at countless events including the MoCo Epic, Fall Camping Trip, Summer Picnic, Winter Membership Meeting, volunteered and represented MORE at events, organized holiday rides, slung dirt at the bike park, and so many other things I can’t recall at the moment.
I have a passion for fun, volunteering, planning, and a desire to bring others along for the ride! I’ve been fortunate to step into a community that affords me all these opportunities and I’d like the chance to pass these experiences along to others. It’s OK, we’re with MORE!
Membership Director
Rob Lowe
I'm running for my 4th term as Membership Director since the start of 2019. I've been a MORE member since moving back to the area in April 2007 and a member of the MORE board in many positions since 2010. I also regularly organize and lead rides at Wakefield Park in VA on Thursdays. My goal is to help expand awareness of the club in the DC Metro area and grow our membership to help support club activities and maintenance of our trail systems. I've recently relocated from Northern VA back into the Bethesda, MD Area.
Ride Program Director
Kathy Mihm
I am interested in continuing in the role of MORE’s Ride Program Director for the 2024 Election. I have served MORE in this role since 2022, working with other MORE Ride Leaders to develop and manage the Ride Program. I am a certified PMBIA instructor and have made it a mini-mission of mine to share mountain bike skills with introductory-level riders to bring more people into the sport. Since 2020, I’ve developed and led beginner and intermediate-level MTB skills clinics through MORE, sharing MTB with hundreds of folks from diverse backgrounds. Along the way, I’ve also led dozens of open and women’s rides through MORE, including training rides for the MoCo Epic, and targeted development of the women’s ride program. I would like to continue development of the ride programs offered by MORE by encouraging/training beginner-level riders, increasing diversity and inclusion of riders, and providing a welcoming community. Thanks to MORE, we have an incredible network of trails in the DMV, and as we expand the community of riders, we will in turn increase trail advocacy and support for MTB trails and MORE.
Riding aside, I have served on MORE’s Board of Directors as Communications Director since 2021, focusing on the Annual Report, quarterly Trailhead Newsletter, trailhead signage, and trail mapping. Prior to 2021, I volunteered for MORE as a ride leader, trail liaison, and on the MoCo Epic planning team. While not mountain biking, I am a hydrogeologist and have worked for over 30 years in environmental consulting with experience in project management and technical analyses, but, really, I’d rather be riding my bike.
Secretary
David Beugelmans
It has been my honor to serve on the MORE Board of Directors for the past 4+ years, first as Vice President, and then as Secretary. During this time, I have had the privilege of working alongside many dedicated volunteers and have gained invaluable insights into the operations and mission of our organization.
My commitment to MORE remains steadfast. As Secretary, I would continue to organize and run board meetings, manage the filing of annual reports, and take on compliance tasks that are crucial for our organization's operations. Additionally, leveraging my professional background as a lawyer, I am prepared to provide pro bono legal assistance through my law firm whenever needed.
By serving as Secretary, I can continue to contribute meaningfully to MORE while aligning my volunteer efforts with my personal passions and strengths. This position allows me to support the organization's administrative needs and ensure we remain compliant with all regulatory requirements, all while staying closely connected to the trails and biking activities that inspire us.
Thank you for your consideration and for the opportunity to continue serving our amazing community.
Treasurer
Neil Blake
I'm a long-time mountain biker (and generally ride any type of bike depending on the day) and ever since I moved to the DC area in 2006, I've always been impressed by the number of places to ride, which has largely been due to MORE's efforts. My 3 young kids make it difficult to get out there and volunteer on the work days so I'm happy to put my accounting skills to work and volunteer as Treasurer to make sure the money is there when needed. I live in Northern Virginia and often ride the trails that are close by so hopefully I'll see you out there.
