PEPCO TRAIL
The Pepco trail is a newly built singletrack trail (2019) connecting Schaeffer Farm and the Soccerplex to the Muddy Branch Trail at the Potomac Horse Center. It follows a power line right of way and is in open fields, but much of it has been designed to be flowy singletrack.
The trail is really two 3 mile sections that can be used to make great singletrack loops. From the Soccerplex, the trail goes southeast three miles and ends at the Seneca Greenway Trail. Head north/east out to Riffleford Road, cross Seneca creek, then take the Seneca Ridge Trail (SRT). The second part of the Pepco trail starts about a mile in. You can continue on the SRT and make a 12 mile loop through Schaeffer and back to the Soccerplex. If you ride the second southern half of the Pepco trail it takes you to Quince Orchard Road, ride the road across Muddy Branch and turn right on the Muddy Branch trail to ride the ~28 mile MoCo South loop.
