LAUREL HILL
Laurel Hill, located in Lorton, Virginia, on the grounds of the old Lorton Penitentiary is an extremely popular new addition to a growing list of off-road cycling trails in Fairfax County.
Named after the original hometown of one of the area’s first settlers, Joseph Plaskett, Lorton has a very colorful history. And Laurel Hill, the geographic area where this ride takes place, is no different. The trails at Laurel Hill meander through what was once the home of a Revolutionary War hero, thousands of the most hardened criminals, and a magazine of six Nike intercontinental ballistic missiles aimed toward the Soviet Union.
The trails at Laurel Hill are expertly maintained and and are perfectly suited for riders of all ability levels.
