Crownsville Hospital Memorial Park is on track to become a major new place to ride in Anne Arundel County. The park is being built on the former Crownsville Hospital property, and the County’s long-range vision includes a mix of trail experiences across the site, along with connections to the neighboring trail systems at Bacon Ridge and Annapolis Waterworks. MORE is engaged to help make sure the bike opportunities here are real, sustainable, and built the right way from day one.
For riders, the big news is the South Forest Trails and what they unlock. This project is planned as a natural-surface mountain bike and hiking network off Hawkins Road, with a small trailhead and parking area, and it is designed to be part of the bigger Bacon Ridge to Waterworks connection. About half of that connector is included in the Crownsville project scope, essentially delivering the Crownsville side of the link and setting the stage for the remaining segment to complete the full connection. The master plan also includes a paved pump track in the active recreation area, giving the community an all-ages bike feature to complement the singletrack as the wider trail vision comes online.
MORE expects to start construction of the trails in spring 2026.
* When donating to a specific trail system MORE will endeavor to use your donation as it was designated, but under extenuating circumstances may assign the funds to other trails/projects in consultation with the appropriate trail liaison or project leader in such cases as, including but not limited to, the closure of the park, failure of the project to move forward, completion of the project under budget, extended periods of inactivity and/or other factors limiting the ability to apply the funds to the original intended designation.
