Women’s Beginner Mountain Bike Clinic
Anne Mader (former MORE Board Member, co-owner of The Bike Lane and a certified IMBA Level 1 Mountain Bike Instructor) and volunteers recently conducted a Women’s Mountain Bike Still Clinic at Wakefield park. She had 12 women show up for the sold out Beginner Women’s Clinic.
The focus was on teaching the fundamentals of mountain biking and how to use those skills on the trail. Everyone did amazing! A lot of time was spent working on body/ bike separation and allowing the bike to float over the obstacles while the body stays calm and relaxed. Everyone progressed through out the clinic and it was great to see how supportive all of the women were with each other.
Every time a rider tried something all of the women cheered and gave high fives! By the end of the class, the women were planning their next rides with each other.
Here is a quote from a participant, “This is perfect for someone who has no experience on a MTB. Your lesson and practical advice gave me the confidence to get on the trail and have fun!!!”
In August, she is planning to have women’s skills rides on Wednesday evenings at 6:45 pm at Wakefield Park. These rides will be open to women of all abilities and we will work on skills such as log overs, corning, climbing and descending. These “rides” will be more about working on skills than getting miles in. MORE info to come.
