Sedona Report
The MORE Board, along with the MORE staff, and special guests, former MORE Presidents Dave Ferraro and Anne Cochrane Mader, met in Sedona, AZ from Friday January 17 through Sunday January 19 to chart the organizational goals of the non-profit organization and to participate in organizational development and leadership workshops led by IMBA’s Executive Director Mike Van Abel.
The trip, funded by IMBA, and planned in partnership with MORE, gave MORE Board members, staffers, and guests the opportunity to draft MORE’s organizational and strategic goals for 2014 and beyond. In addition to three days of workshops and meetings, the retreat participants also had the opportunity to bond and ride on some of Sedona’s premier network of trails.
Board members stayed at both the Sedona Hilton Resort and the Red Agave Resort in the Village of Oak Creek just south of Sedona and met three times during the retreat at a designated conference room in the Sedona Hilton.
The board retreat meetings were kicked off on Friday afternoon after a challenging ride in the Dead Horse Ranch State Park trails of Cottonwood Arizona. The ride, led by IMBA’s Southwest Regional Director, Patrick Kell, was a demanding 18 mile loop with over 1,300’ of climbing. The ride, and the following evening meeting, established the tone for the subsequent formal and informal sessions and rides that would follow on Saturday and Sunday.
