Secretary - David Beugelmans
I have proudly served as MORE's Vice President for the past three years. In that capacity, I have been responsible for coordinating and running MORE's Board Meetings. I am also a lawyer and have assisted with pro bono (in other words, free) legal work for the club. I am excited to run for the newly created Secretary position to continue providing these vital back-end services.
In addition to Vice President, I have been the MORE trail liaison for Annapolis Waterworks since its inception, so I know what it's like first hand to advocate for, build, and maintain trails. MORE has become one of the premier mountain bike trail advocacy organizations in the United States, but there is always room for improvement. My goal is to advance MORE's mission so that it becomes an even better platform for members and volunteers to lead rides and build and maintain trails in Maryland, DC, and Virginia.
Ride Program Director - Kathy Mihm
After being drawn into mountain biking from a road cycling background, I quickly learned that mountain biking wasn’t just riding fatter tires on dirt Through the school of hard knocks and crashes, MTB-specific skills slowly took hold and I was on my way. Since then, I’ve become a certified instructor and made it a mini-mission of mine to share mountain bike skills with introductory-level riders to bring more people into the sport, hopefully with fewer bruises and gashes. Since 2020, I’ve developed and led beginner MTB skills clinics through MORE, sharing MTB with hundreds of folks from all walks of life and diverse backgrounds. Along the way, I’ve also led dozens of co-ed and women’s rides through MORE, including training rides for the MoCo Epic, and targeted development of the women’s ride program. As MORE’s Ride Program Director, I would like to continue development of the ride programs offered by MORE by encouraging/training beginner-level riders, increasing diversity and inclusion of riders, and providing a welcoming community. Thanks to MORE, we have an incredible network of trails in the DMV, and it’s time to expand the community of riders, which will in turn provide advocacy and support for MTB trails and MORE.
Riding aside, I have served on MORE’s Board of Directors as Communications Director since 2021, focusing on the Annual Report, quarterly Trailhead Newsletter, trailhead signage, and trail mapping. Prior to 2021, I volunteered for MORE as a ride leader, trail liaison, and on the MoCo Epic planning team. While not mountain biking, I am a hydrogeologist and have worked for over 30 years in environmental consulting with experience in project management, technical analyses, and data management, but, really, I’d rather be riding my bike.
Membership Director - Rob Lowe
I've served the past 2 terms of 2019-2020 and 2021-2022.
My focus will be to continue to work to grow our membership base and also retain existing members. Also I will try to act as possible as a voice of our members to the board at large in general with a focus on rides and other opportunities. I've also served previously as Vice President and Ride Coordinator.
We have had fantastic growth the last 3 years and we are now stagnating slightly. We need to focus on improving our outreach and message around how membership helps drive our ability to grow and improve opportunities in our region. Better signage at/near trailheads and key "spots" on trails will be a strategic goal for us to develop and deploy by late Spring 2023.
Activities Director - Clay Deming
I would like to be considered for the Activities Director Board Position of MORE for 2023-2024. I have ridden MORE maintained trails for many years and hope I can repay those miles by continuing to volunteer my time in support MORE's mission. Over the past two years as a board member, I've been challenged and educated, but I've also had fun growing our ride program, restarting events, and meeting new friends along the way.
In the next two years, I hope to continue growing MORE's events and thinking of new ways to build our riding community. I'd like to work on diversifying our volunteer base, partner with local organizations to support our community, and focus on supporting our sMORE's program across the area.
