  • Membership Updates (Rob)
  • August was another strong month, again our best August on record, historically pre-pandemic it was 5K month but since 2020 it has grown from low 7K to near 8k.   It’s our 7th out of 8 months where we have beaten 2021 numbers.
  • Joining members, we had another strong month of 47, we are at 313 by the end of the month putting us 38 ahead of last year at the same point and prior 2020 we have already exceeded the new joins for 2019.
  • Total Current Members – 1955, we are back on a climb towards the 2000-member mark and hopefully will surpass by the end of October 2022. (1969 as of 12 Aug)
  • Peggy
  • As we move forward next year with camping trip and MoCo Epic, I would like to find a way for people to do their own renewal.
  • Rob: We can talk about better ways. Hesitant to remove the option. It is one of those things. It would be great if we could tie in.
  • Communications (Kathy)
  • Nothing new to report. Tried to get out summer newsletter but it was difficult to get content together. Going to try for summer/fall newsletter.
  • There is overlap with communications Peggy is doing.
  • Ernie
  • In our membership package, we say we will do a monthly update. So we should change this if we want to do something other than monthly.
  • Peggy
  • The quarterly newsletter is different. The weekly newsletter is short blurbs. The quarterly is foundation and has much more information with articles etc.
  • We can have the quarterly report be a board presentation.
  • Kathy
  • Continuing with the newsletter is of interest and serves a purpose.
  • Will try to push harder to get content from people
  • Events
  • 30th Anniversary Event (Clay)
  • Peggy
  • Clay would like some input about what we’d like to do with this. Are we going to have a guest speaker? Something else?
  • Ernie
  • We need to do something recognizing our history. Found old Articles of Incorporation.
  • Would love to appoint a historian and capture history. To celebrate those people who really were our founders.
  • Rob
  • Think this is important.
  • Also need to talk about future and what our vision is. If there is going to be a presentation, we need something on the history of MORE. What we are investing in, what we want to grow to. How important it is and what it lets us do.
  • Peggy
  • Clay is going to need some help with this. He doesn’t have the history of MORE.
  • Rob
  • The organization of the event needs to be decided. If it is 3 hours, need to do 2 hours for socialization and 1 hour for presentations/talks
  • Dave M
  • The presentation should be 15 minutes
  • We should not wait until next board meeting.
  • Clary should be putting our an email asking for a small committee (I will be on it) to come up with the content around the presentation
  • Lets make that happen in the next week or so.
  • Tom
  • I would also be happy to be on this.
  • Peggy
  • Can talk to the future of programming and community building aspect.
  • Fall Camping Trip (Clay)
  • Clay not present
  • Women’s Bikefest Event support at REI (Peggy)
  • Went to REI women’s cycle fest in prep for DC bike ride. Really good day to meet people.
  • Gave out 250 stickers. This is why REI is such an important partner.
  • MoCo Epic Update (Peggy)
  • We are right where we should be.
  • Had snag with food trucks. Had problem getting people to commit. One person has backed out. Something will work out.
  • Has done communications about pushing what we trying to do new, trying to address concerns from last year. Most of this is small stuff, like organization of Saturday. REI is going to help with post ride hangry station.
  • The raffle is back. Have 3 good donations. Don’t think we will make a ton of money off raffle, but it’s nice to have raffle back.
  • Trails
  • Virginia (Tom)
  • Had monthly meeting and it was a smaller turnout because it was Labor Day.
  • Locust Shade
  • Going to be working on a jump line. Just got more dirt. Going to do some additional fundraising.
  • Has some signage.
