Executive Director Report (Jali)
- Busy end of April, first half of May, with lots going on.
- For advocacy, we've had some good cadence and responses from community. Recent pushes for PG County budget. Baltimore County is in the middle of public input. And Montgomery Parks also reached out for budget support. Been reaching out to folks in community and hoping we're at a point where it's just second nature. Budget hearings happen, and when they do, we have asks.
- Alison and I want to push in our membership drive communications – this is part of the value of MORE – making sure we all have a seat at the table.
- For events, almost every weekend I am at an event.
- Yesterday, was at the South Germantown Bike Park Spring Jump Jam – the first spring one.
- This time it was marketed by the South Germantown Bike Park volunteers, and the level of talent was very impressive. Five sponsored pros were there. Really neat to see. People were happy to be donating on the spot.
- Yesterday, Alison was at the Rails to River Race by EX2 Adventures in Lake Fairfax
- The event went well. It was a great day. Got good call outs for MORE. MORE had posted with donation QR codes
- Alison went to the S3 She Shreds Shed Event in Frederick. There was a group ride and a picnic, it went well. Put up a MORE flag and gave out stickers, etc.
- Before that had women's mountain biking day, where Maris and Kathy helped as well. People seemed receptive to new model with group rides and trailwork.
- Getting ready for Summer Picnic Series
- First in line in Locust Shade. Doing the same thing as last year, where we are having multiple summer picnics in five different places.
- Second one will be the AACo Epic in July
- The other three summer ride and picnic events are in Patuxent, Lake Fairfax, and Lake Accotink
- MoCo Epic
- Allison and I have started reaching out to sponsors. Have five of the six rides sponsored. Looking for the 55-miler. Also working on aid station sponsors. Our goal is to open registration by July 1, and have big reg page up, with main rides, etc.

Review Transfers into the Restricted Funds (Neil)
- We had requests as discussed by the trails committee. Dave M wanted me to put notes of the requests by the restricted funds. Some are waiting for the project to come to fruition.
- Neil: For the skid steer that was purchased, this is the first time MORE has owned assets. This was approved at a board meeting or by the trails committee. MORE is going to the owner and it's going to reside at the South Germantown Bike Park. This will require property tax filing, and depreciation etc.
- Kathy: Does this change our insurance situation? Neil: No.
- Neil: We need to figure out a policy for lending assets.
- Dave B: We should make a policy document about using equipment that's reimbursed for personal use vs. MORE.
Membership Update (Rob)
- April was a decent month. For the year to date from April we are down about $2300 in memberships, but we can point to the IMBA memberships as the cause of this.
- Jali: IMBA is going to do this, so it should come up.
- April started slow but finished moderately strong, outperforming April 2024 and nearly matching the April 2025 high — falling short by only $373 in membership dollars and 6 transactions
- Joins held steady at 18, nearly matching 2025 and a solid number for the month
- Despite the strong finish, the year is now falling further behind the 2025 pace — by a bit over $2,300 in pre-IMBA processing fees
- Total memberships remained just above the 2,000 baseline
- Membership and YTD revenue are both running modestly below last year, with April joins and renewals roughly flat year-over-year.
- For May, we are slightly behind the curve, but will catch up.
- Revenue
- 2026 YTD revenue is $23,842, down $2,324 from 2025 YTD ($26,166)
- Membership totals
- 2,003 total members currently (18 new + 1,985 current)
- Down from 2,009 in March and 2,038 in February; 2,095 at this time last year
- 114 members lapsed/expiring across April and March 2026 (vs. 102 last year)
- April activity (last year in parentheses)
- Joins: 18 (19)
- Renewals under 15 days: 89 (92)
- Short renewals (15 days–3 mo): 7 (3)
- Middle renewals (3–6 mo): 3 (3)
- Long renewals (6 mo+): 5 (8)
- Large donors (annual over $100): 20 totaling $2,300 (21 last year)
- Money/Members
- Paid members (last 12 months): 1,461 of 2,003 total members, as of April 30, 2026; estimated value $94,500 pre-IMBA share
- Auto-renewing members (annual): 890 total members and family, of which 625 are paying
- Value: $41,900 annual — or $52,580 when monthly memberships are included
- Growth: 597 at the 2025 baseline (+28 over the year), reaching 625 in 2026 (+0 so far this year)
Trails
Virginia (Michael)
- We had a meeting with Martin and me with Prince William County. The project he put in, where he's getting the O'Sullivan Funding, is new work and is "existing work" meaning they can use their existing agreement. There is a corridor that has already been cleared. Should be done before the ride series. The work that requires a professional trail builder is new work, expecting to get an MOU and hope to have approval very soon. Part of his project, and that part doesn't need fund transferred.
- June 6, there will be a ribbon cutting for the CCT connector at Brookfield. All on an email with liaisons. Happy to deliver tools.
- Alison and Jali will also assist.
- Cut the check for the Wakefield work. Project is moving along. Tony is working on the "in between jump line" and his project is moving along.
- James Long, the two liaisons want a zero-maintenance jump line, so wants to bring in a builder from PA
- Edgar Tillett, did walk the trail with Brock, and he said a significant amount of dirt will need to be moved there.
- At Fountainhead, replacing bridges and maintaining the trail system.
- Michael Ullman happy to help find additional help
Maryland (Dave M)
- Patuxent Phase 2a – the work is essentially done and down to a small punch list. Did hire Greenstone to do $6k of extra work in a couple spots. Need to reach out to legislative team to offer to do a ribbon cutting – will be open within 20 or 30 days
- Rosaryville – Got its final internal DNR approval. Have a significant RTP grant. The invitation for bids is almost ready, and will be going out for bids relatively soon. Targeted work to be done by the end of 2027.
- Clopper Road – sidewalk has been poured to open up the rest of the greenway. Likely will be an announcement with the Maryland park service, and a way to do fundraising and get volunteers. Will open full 10 miles of trails to bikes.
- Frederick Paved Pumptrack – was delayed due to final grading permit, but hope to break ground within 30 days
- Prince George's County
- Casey: we had a good conversation with department. They have some funding for additional skill parks and pump track type features. Sounds exciting. This park has for 5–6 years some not particularly interesting jump park type features, and very small concrete. Want to fill in the space in the park with something real.
- In addition to Charles Branch Ribbon Cutting, they are open to and interested in adding some more single track near College Park and some of the stream valley parks, which are close in to DC.
Ride Program Update (Kathy)
- Administrative, keeping rides on the calendar.
- Interest in new rides on Kent Island.
Events Update (Maris)
- Getting to ramp up to the real season
- First thing I have coming up is at Hashawa
- Having first picnic at Locust Shade
- The only one I can't be at is the Anne Arundel Epic
