MORE Women's MTB Day
Rescheduled - May 14, 2022!

This event is open to all women and those who identify as women. All participants must sign a waiver, wear a helmet and bring a trail-worthy bicycle in good working condition.

Schedule:

9:00 - 9:30 am Clinic Registration and Waiver Checks

9:30 - 10:45 am MTB Skills Clinics

  • s'Mores Skills Clinic for Girls age 6+
    • Introduction to the basic bike skills needed for fun and safe mountain biking.
  • Beginner Skills Clinic - 20 people max, age 16+
    • Introduction to the basic bike skills needed for fun and safe mountain biking. We will cover bike fit, bike-body separation, neutral and ready positions, and basics for terrain adjustments (uphill, downhill, and cornering).
  • Beyond Beginner Skills Clinic- 20 people max, age 16+
    • The next level of MTB skills for gaining confidence and the ability to tackle the trail. We will build on the basic skills and add bike balance, cornering, and downhill skills.

10:30 - 11:00 am Break/Waiver Checks for Rides

11 am – 1:00 pm Group Rides (Meet at Schaeffer Farms Trailhead) - (Group rides for 16+, with the exception of the sMORE's ride!)

  • sMORE's - Family Bike Ride for the younger ladies. Riders must be accompanied by parent/guardian. We may split into groups depending on the skill levels/ages.
  • Novice/Beginner - for the newest riders - recommend attending MTB skills clinic first to learn the basics of MTB. Ride will be ~ 5 miles distance @ ~5 mph, lots of stopping and discussion for tackling the trail and regrouping, some degree of cardio/bike fitness will make it more fun.
  • Casual + - comfortable tackling minor trail features (roots, logs, rocks) and hills with basic body-bike separation skills and reasonable fitness level; we will ride 5-10 miles distance @ 5-7 mph)
  • Intermediate - faster-paced and longer distance ride with good fitness level and strong MTB trail skills; we will ride 8-12 miles distance @ 6-8 mph.
  • Advanced - fast pace and longer distance require good fitness and strong MTB trail skills, we will ride 12-15 miles @ 8+ mph.

All rides will be no-drop, group rides, with at least 1 leader and 1 sweeper. We will re-group along the trail and have fun!

1:30 pm – 2:15 pm Basic Bike Maintenance and Trailside Repair Clinic

  • Trailside Maintenance - learn the basics behind trailside fixes including flat tires and minor bike adjustments, and basic maintenance for mountain bikes.
